Die kleine Bilderbuchinsel Hembadoo wurde leider in den letzten Jahren komplett umgebaut. Seither wird sie als Taj Coral Reef Resort bezeichnet und mehr als die Hälfte der Küste ist mit Overwaterbungalows dicht verbaut. Aber sehen Sie selbst am interaktiven Inselfoto ->
Sicher, es gibt Overwater-Bungalows, die sehen gut aus, passen in die Landschaft und stehen nicht auf den Korallen, nur hier hat man fast alles falsch gemacht, was nur möglich war! Ich wünsche Ihnen einen schönen Urlaub im einzigen ''Gemeindebau'' der Malediven ;-)

Unfortunately, the little picture book island of Hembadoo was modified completely within the last few years. Since then she is described as Taj Coral Reef Resort and more than half of the coast is obstructed thick with Overwaterbungalows. But see yourself at the interactive island photo ->
Sure, there are Overwater bungalows these look good, fit in the landscape and don't stand on the corals but only here one has made everything wrong which only somehow was possible! I wish you a beautiful holiday in the only ''council house'' of the Maldives ;-)

Taj Coral Reef Resort - Hembadoo, wie es einmal war - Hembadoo what it was like once

Früher war diese Insel noch frei und unverbaut, heute ist der Ausblick jedoch großteils von Overwater-Bungalows verdeckt! Diese Insel ist seither eher für Taucher zu empfehlen, denn das typische Strandfeeling stellt sich mit den vielen Wasserbungalows nicht mehr ein Wirklich schade um diese Insel! Westlich vom schönsten Strand der Insel - einer Sandbank, die ihre Form und Größe oft täglich durch die Strömung änderte - lag dieser kleine Bootsteg. Von hier aus fuhren die Taucher ein- bis zweimal täglich mit dem Dhoni zu den wenig frequentierten Tauchspots in den Nordwesten des Nord-Male-Atolles los. Am Beginn des Steges lag 1994 auch der einzige einstöckige Bungalow der Insel.
In the west of the most beautiful beach of the island - a sandbank which often changed her form and size by the flow daily - lay this small Jetty. The divers drove from here one till twice daily with the Dhoni to the little frequented diving spots to the northwest of the North Male Atoll. At the beginning of the Jetty lay 1994 the only two-storey bungalow of the island.

Natürlich gibt es auch Regen auf den Malediven, aber oft dauert er höchstens eine halbe Stunde und es kühlt dabei auch fast nicht ab. Beim Monsun-Wechsel Ende Mai/Anfang Juni und im Oktober kann es aber auch richtige Unwetter geben und dann kann es auch mehrere Tage ununterbrochen regnen. An Tauchen und Schnorcheln ist dann meistens nicht mehr zu denken und wer nicht genügend Reiselektüre (oder die Freundin) mit genommen hat, dem kann es ganz schön langweilig werden ;-)
Of course there also is rain in the Maledive Islands, but often lasts at the most for half an hour and almost doesn't cool it down either. At the monsoon change in May/June and October, however, there can be also right thunderstorms and then it can rain several days incessantly, too. At plunge and snorkels then hasn't mostly to be thought any more and who hasn't taken sufficient reading-matter (or the girl friend) has taken along this can get very boring.

Hausriff - House reef

Fast jeden Nachmittag kam dieser cà 1,3m lange Ammenhai und zwischen kleinem Steg und Sandbank schlief er cà 30m vom Ufer entfernt in 4m Tiefe 1 - 2 Stunden lang. In dieser Zeit ließ er sich durch nichts stören und als ich ihn einmal anfaßte, zuckte er nur kurz mit dem Schwanz und schlief einfach weiter.

This cà 1.3 m long Nurse Shark came almost every afternoon and he slept between the small footbridge and the sandbank in only 3-4 m of depth for a couple of hours. He could be disturbed by nothing at this time and once when I grasped him, he twitched with the tail only briefly and slept further simply.

ein eigenes T-Shirt drucken - printing your own T-Shirt

Für alle Malediven-Fans, die sich selbst ein T-Shirt mit dem Inselfoto anfertigen möchten, hier gibt es das Bügelbild der Insel Hembadoo als Zip-Datei zum downloaden !
Auf der entpackten JPG Datei im Format A4 ist oben das Inselfoto und darunter der Inselname seitenverkehrt. Die JPG-Grafik auf eine handelsübliche Bügel-Folie (T-Shirt Folie) drucken und dann das Foto und den Inselnamen mit einem höchstens 4 mm schmalen Rand separat ausschneiden. Diese Teile werden vorne auf ein weißes T-Shirt gebügelt, während der Text www.malediven.at für den Rücken des T-Shirts bestimmt ist. Das ist keine Pflicht, aber mich würde es sehr freuen! Je nach Vorschrift des Bügel-Folien Herstellers (normalerweise 10 Sekunden mit Temperatur für Baumwolle) ohne Dampf aufbügeln und eventuell mit einem weißen Papier nochmals kurz überbügeln. Viel Spaß und noch mehr neidvolle Blicke der anderen Urlauber !

On the unpacked JPG-file in the format A4 the island photo is above and under this the island name reversedly. Printing the JPG graphic on a customary hanger-foil (T-Shirt foil) and then cutting the photo and the island name out with a not more than 4 mm narrow edge separately. These parts are ironed in front on a white T-shirt while the text www.malediven.at is meant for the back of the T-Shirt. This isn't a duty but I would be very much pleased! Depending on regulation of the hanger-foils' manufacturer (usually 10 seconds with temperature for cotton) without steam iron and perhaps with a white paper again short over-hangers. A lot of fun and still more envious looks of the other vacationists !

Cocktails

Dies war mein zweites Cocktailrezept, denn seit Hembadoo nahm ich immer ein Blatt Papier und einen Bleistift mit zur Bar und da auf den Malediven die wenigsten Barkeeper schreiben konnten, brachte ich so manchen zur Verzweiflung, bis ich mein Rezept hatte.
This was my second cocktail recipe, because since Hembadoo I always take a sheet of paper and a pencil along to the bar (not only thirst) and there being able to write only few bartenders on the Maldives, I took some to the despair so, until I had my recipe.
