Diese Bilderbuch-Insel liegt weit oben im Nordosten des Nord-Male-Atolles und durch ihre einsame Lage ist das Hausriff für seinen Fischreichtum und traumhafte Tauchplätze bekannt. Einzig die zahlreichen Wellenbrecher stören etwas den idyllischen Eindruck dieser Spiegeleiinsel. Da die Lagune relativ seicht ist, wurden für die Taucher und Schnorchler einige Ausstiege durch das Riff gegraben.

This picture book island is located in the northeast of the North-Male Atoll and by her lonesome situation the house reef is noted for his richness in fish and wonderful diving places. Only the numerous breakwaters disturb a little the idyllic impression of this ''fried egg'' (Type "A") island. Since the lagoon is relatively shallow, some exits were dug by the reef for the diver and Schnorchler.

Eriyadhu war bereits früher immer etwas moderner und besser ausgestattet als Hembadoo und auch heute, trotz der gründlichen Renovierung vor ein paar Jahren, hat die Insel nichts von ihrem familiären Charakter verloren. Das mittlerweile legendäre Hausriff ist bereits bei vielen Tauchern und Schnorchlern bekannt. Diese schöne Insel wird schon seit vielen Jahren von Neckermann angeboten und kann allen Ruhesuchenden empfohlen werden.
Eriyadhu was a little more modernly and better always already earlier equipped than Hembadoo (now Taj Coral Reef Resort) and also today defy the thorough renovation a couple of years ago the island has lost nothing of her family character. The meanwhile legendary house reef is already known to many divers and snorkelers. This beautiful island is already offered by Neckermann for many years and all quiet seekers can be recommended.

Die Zweibettbungalows sind nett und sauber und wie auf den vielen Inseln gleichen Standards. Das obere Foto machte ich allerdings noch vor der Generalsanierung und die Ausstattung entspricht daher der 3-Stern Kategorie. Das untere Foto erhielt ich im herbst 2000 und zeigt eines der renovierten Zimmer.
Ich machte die besten Erfahrungen, wenn ich dem Zimmerboy sein Trinkgeld am 1. oder 2. Tag zu Beginn jeder Urlaubswoche gab, genauso wie dem Kellner im Speisesaal. Für 2 Wochen Urlaub reichen meistens je 20 US $, für die Kofferträger pro Gepäckstück 1 US $.
The two bed bungalows are nice and clean and are the same standard as many other islands. I still took the upper picture before the general rehabilitation and the category and the equipment therefore corresponds to the 3 star. I received the lower photo in fall 2000 and it shows one of the renovated rooms. I made the best experiences, if I gave the roomboy his tip already on the 1st or 2nd day at start of every vacation-week, just like the waiter in the restaurant. For 2 weeks of vacation rich mostly per US$ 15,- to 20,- and for the porters per peace of luggage US$ 1,-

Hausriff - House reef

Um 1990 herum vermehrten sich auf vielen Inseln die Dornenkronen, denn für die Touristen wurden vielerorts die großen Triton-Schnecken eingesammelt und da diese der einzige, natürliche Feind der Dornenkronen waren, vermehrten sich diese Seesterne so stark, daß sie ganze Riffe kahl fraßen. Nicht so hier auf Eriyadhu. Das Hausriff dieser Insel war bis zum Frühjahr 1998 einfach traumhaft und die Anzahl und Formenvielfalt der Korallen unglaublich. Erst durch El Niño im Frühjahr 1998 starben auch hier sehr viele Korallen ab, die jedoch - vielen Berichten zufolge - auch hier wieder schön nachgewachsen sind.
The Crown-of-Thorns starfishes increased at 1990 on many islands because for the tourists the big Triton snails were in many places gathered and since these was the only natural enemy of the Crown-of-Thorns these starfishes increased so strongly that they ate whole reefs baldly. Not so here on Eriyadhu! The house reef of this island was simply wonderful up to the spring 1998 and the number and form variety of corals was unbelievable. Only by El Niño in spring 1998 many corals died also here, this one however - according to many reports - also here again nicely grow again.

Auch heuer wieder verschlug es mich wie in den vergangen Jahren (2000 Sun Island, 2001 Mirihi, 2002 Eriyadhu) im Jänner auf die Malediven. Ich wählte wieder die Insel Eriyadhu und verbrachten dort vom 11. - 25. Jänner unsere Urlaubszeit. Eine kleine und echt maledivische Insel.
Ausschlaggebend für meine Entscheidung wieder auf dieser Insel Urlaub zu machen, war in erster Linie die Tauchbasis. Schon im Vorjahr fühlte ich mich vom ersten Tag an wohl und in den Händen von Sanne und Robin. Die Tauchbasis, unter der Leitung von Sanne und Robin, ist hervorragend geführt, organisiert, ausgerüstet und bietet für alle Ansprüche etwas. Es werden sowohl Abenteurer und Fortgeschrittene sowie Gemütliche und Anfänger absolut zufrieden gestellt. Highlight war heuer für mich der Strömungskurs den ich bei Sanne absolvierte. (War erste Sahne "DANKE").
Natürlich gibt es so wie überall Meckerer, denen das eine oder andere nicht passt. Sanne findet aber immer mit viel Geduld und Ausdauer die richtigen Worte um Frieden einkehren zu lassen. Das übrige Personal (Noriaki und Ole - sind leider nicht mehr lange auf Eriyadhu - alles Gute ihr beiden) war auch immer ansprechbar und hilfsbereit. Habe mit Noriaki einige Tauchgänge gemacht seine Briefings in Halbenglisch werde ich sehr vermissen.
Die Bootsfahrten sind einfach super, nichts wird dem Zufall überlassen. Auch die Tauchplätze können sich sehen lassen. Es gibt Großfische, Kleingetier, sehr schöne Korallen, Höhlen ,Wracks ect, zu bewundern. Ich möchte hier keine spez. Tauchplätze nennen, da es ja Geschmackssache ist. In den zwei Wochen Urlaub brachte ich es auf 22 Tauchgänge wovon nur 2 am Hausriff waren. Kein einziger war eine Enttäuschung für mich. Selbst am Hausriff sah ich Haie, Adlerrochen, Schildkröten und jede Menge Restfische. Die Bootscrew (3 Mann) sind sehr hilfsbereit immer freundlich und es gibt nach jeden Tauchgang Kokosnuss und Tee. (Freuen sich über 5 Dollar pro Mann zum Urlaubsschluss)
Nun zum Rest. Das Essen ist sehr gut, wenn auch nicht sehr abwechslungsreich. Die Bungalows sind sauber die Klimaanlage leise. Roomboy Mohamed eine Klasse für sich. Auch das übrige Personal sehr nett, freundlich und hilfsbereit. Alles in allem ist das Service sehr gut. Auch gab es bis auf ein paar Ameisen im Bad keinerlei Ungeziefer im Bungalow. Möchte mich hiermit bei allen Beteiligten herzlich für den schönen Urlaub auf Eriyadhu bedanken.
Zu meiner Freude sah ich einige bekannte Gesichter vom Jahre 2002. In Gesprächen mit ihnen erfuhr ich, dass auch sie auf Grund des Personals der Tauchbasis wieder diese Insel wählten. Zur Zeit stelle ich Überlegungen für meinen Urlaub 2004 an. Fest steht, wenn Sanne und Robin noch auf der Insel bzw Basis sind dann werde ich sicherlich wiederkommen ansonsten werde ich sicher eine andere Insel bzw. einen anderen Urlaubsort ansteuern.
Also lieber Werner Lau (leider hatte ich noch nicht das Vergnügen dich persönlich kennen zu lernen) behalte diese Leute so lange es möglich ist in deinen Diensten. Du hast einen Glücksgriff gemacht! Ach ja Flug Transfer ect. so wie immer. Bei Fragen stehe ich gerne zur Verfügung!

Travel story Eriyadhu 2003 of Edi

Again also this year it brought me, passed years like into it (2000 Sun Island, 2001 Mirihi, 2002 Eriyadhu) in January on the Maldives. I re-elected the island of Eriyadhu and spent our vacation season there of 11th to 25th January. A small and extremely Maldives island.
Decisive for my decision, making vacation on this island again was primarly the diving base. Already in the previous year I felt well there from the first day in the hands of Sanne and Robin. Diving base is led excellently under the management of Sanne and Robin, organized, equipped and offer something for all claims. Becoming it both adventurer and advanced as well as comfortable and beginners satisfied absolutely. This year highlight was the flow line for me I went this one through at Sanne (was first cream "thanks"!).
Of course there is bleater like everywhere, these the one or other doesn't fit. However, Sanne always finds the correct words with much patience and staying power to let peace stop off. The other staff (Noriaki and Ole unfortunately, are no longer on Eriyadhu - all best the two) was always responsive and helpful, too. Have made some diving walks with Noriaki. I will miss his briefings in half English very much.
The boat trips are simply super nothing is left to chance. The diving places are also impressive. There are big fish, Little creatures, very beautiful corals, Caves, wrecks, ect. to admiring. I wouldn't like to mention special diving places here since it is a matter of taste. Within the two weeks of vacation I brought it on 22 diving walks of what at the house reef were only 2. No one was a disappointment for me. I saw sharks, eagle rays, turtles and every quantity rest fish even at the house reef. The boat crew (3 man) is very helpful, and after every diving walk gives coconut and tea. (Being pleased about 5 dollars per man for the vacation end)
Now to the rest. The meal is very good if also not very change rich. The bungalows are clean and the air conditioner quiet. Room bellboy Mohamed is a class for himself. The other staff is also very nice, kind and helpful. The service all in all is very good. There also was no vermin except for a couple of ants in the bath in the bungalow. I would like to thank all ones involved for the beautiful vacation cordially on Eriyadhu hereby.
To my delight I saw some known faces of the year 2002. In conversations with them I learned, that they re-elected this island due to the staff of the diving base, too. I am making considerations for my vacation in 2004 at the moment. Tightly stands if Sanne and Robin still are on the island or base then surely I will come back otherwise will for certain another island.
Therefore dear Werner Lau (unfortunately, I didn't have the fun with getting to know you personally yet) keeps it is possibly so enough these people in your services. You have made a luck handle! Oh yes, flight transfer ect . like always. In case of questions I like to be available!

ein eigenes T-Shirt drucken - printing your own T-Shirt

Für alle Malediven-Fans, die sich selbst ein T-Shirt mit dem Inselfoto anfertigen möchten, hier gibt es das Bügelbild der Insel Eriyadhu als Zip-Datei zum downloaden !
Auf der entpackten JPG Datei im Format A4 ist oben das Inselfoto und darunter der Inselname seitenverkehrt. Die JPG-Grafik auf eine handelsübliche Bügel-Folie (T-Shirt Folie) drucken und dann das Foto und den Inselnamen mit einem höchstens 4 mm schmalen Rand separat ausschneiden. Diese Teile werden vorne auf ein weißes T-Shirt gebügelt, während der Text www.malediven.at für den Rücken des T-Shirts bestimmt ist. Das ist keine Pflicht, aber mich würde es sehr freuen! Je nach Vorschrift des Bügel-Folien Herstellers (normalerweise 10 Sekunden mit Temperatur für Baumwolle) ohne Dampf aufbügeln und eventuell mit einem weißen Papier nochmals kurz überbügeln. Viel Spaß und noch mehr neidvolle Blicke der anderen Urlauber !

On the unpacked JPG-file in the format A4 the island photo is above and under this the island name reversedly. Printing the JPG graphic on a customary hanger-foil (T-Shirt foil) and then cutting the photo and the island name out with a not more than 4 mm narrow edge separately. These parts are ironed in front on a white T-shirt while the text www.malediven.at is meant for the back of the T-Shirt. This isn't a duty but I would be very much pleased! Depending on regulation of the hanger-foils' manufacturer (usually 10 seconds with temperature for cotton) without steam iron and perhaps with a white paper again short over-hangers. A lot of fun and still more envious looks of the other vacationists !
